The Lunchtime Fitness Guide

workout tipsStaying motivated and most importantly staying fit over the working can be extremely tough. The after work slog of walking to the gym, getting changed and showered straight after is a workout in its own right.

Going to the gym three to five times a week leaves many of us feeling like we have now time in between work, dinner, and sleep. Fitting a workout in during your lunch seems like a lot of hassle, but it is possible!

If you are looking for ways you can fit your workout in during your lunch break, you have come to the right place.

Lunchtime Classes

OK, so classes are not for everyone, but it is the way forward if you are wanting to cut back some of the time you are spending at the gym. City centre gyms have realised that we are extremely busy and some of us just can’t find the time to boost to the gym after meetings that have run on late.

Many gyms offer a 30-35-minute spin class, which will still leave you time to devour a quick salad or healthy protein shake after it. If your local gym does this, make sure you are taking advantage.

Yoga Girl

The treadmill leaves you sweating and weary, which means you want the luxury of a shower after. This isn’t possible in the space of an hour, but don’t let that be your excuse to back out. Exercises such as yoga and barre eliminate the need for cardio. The squat challenge is another way you can work most of the muscles in your body at one time!

The Essentials

Get your gym bag at the ready and make sure you have all the essentials you will need for your lunch break workout. Womens’ Health recommended floral water like the Damask Rose Floral as it  “will freshen you up without the shower but isn’t as intense as a perfume.”  Dry shampoo and deodorant are also in their must have list.

HIIT Workouts

HIIT workouts are great for those who do not have time to go for an hour run in the morning or at night. There are a variety of HIIT workouts that you can access via fitness apps. How does HIIT work? HIIT is short for high-intensity interval training. This is a training technique where you will give your all for a solid thirty minutes. It involves intense bursts of exercise, followed by short but active, recovery periods.

Run For It

Running away from the gym is not the answer as that may leave you feeling even more stressed! If you do not own a membership, running on the streets is a cost-effective, no fuss option, that can be done in almost any location.

This means that you do not have to travel all the way to the gym just to find busy changing rooms and machines. Why not ask one of your colleagues to join you on your run or get the whole team involved?! Exercise is an excellent method of team bonding.
